half

I was half in love with her by the time we sat down. That’s the thing about girls. Every time they do something pretty, even if they’re not much to look at, or even if they’re sort of stupid, you fall half in love with them, and then you never know where the hell you are. Girls. Jesus Christ. They can drive you crazy. They really can.

~J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye, Chapter 10~

rings true a quote from a favorite book of mine. i cannot agree more mr. salinger. them and their every coy look, every attentive stare and every lingering look away gaze that pierces into you for a split second too long. their hearty laughter at our stupid jokes, mock anger at our teasing and pretentious aloofness at our apologies. their subtle body language… the leaning closer, the touches…both accidental and not, sets sparks a-flying.

and thus they break down our carefully planned retorts and reduce us to a blubbering fool. they chip away at our well thought defenses and melt us into a puddle. they drive us crazy. yes they can and they know it. such sly sly creatures are these girls.

so… please be still my beating heart. one half is not a full circle. rant, struggle, flutter all you want but i will not release you, just yet.
